Implementation of Divestment in Maine
MCAN organizes with Maine Youth for Climate Justice advocating for the state of Maine, and specifically the Maine Public Employee Retirement System (MainePERS), to divest from fossil fuels.

We continue to work with the Wabanaki Alliance Coalition to support tribal sovereignty bills in 2023.
Pine Tree Amendment LD 489 (2021)
MCAN continues to support this amendment as it comes back before the Legislature in 2023.
131st LEGISLATIVE SESSION - UPCOMING BILLS (2023)
Bill to Legally Define Environmental Justice and Environmental Justice Populations and require state agencies to meaningfully engage environmental justice populations and incorporate equity into decision-making.
Offshore Wind Process bill for responsible development, investments in research and environmental monitoring, equity and inclusion practices, and labor protections.
MCAN will focus on Transportation bills that could have an impact on paths to reduce emissions; increase a shift towards a more sustainable transportation plan; and bring equity to the transition.
